Dear Discovery Cluster Users:
Due to the high cost of licensing for the current scheduler on Discovery Cluster - IBM Platform LSF, we have decided to migrate to SLURM (http://www.schedmd.com) that is free and open source.
SLURM is currently configured on the cluster with queues identical to Platform LSF. Users are encouraged to test SLURM scripts. LSF will continue to be operational until a yet to be determined date. Users can test their SLURM scripts by trial runs ONLY in the respective queues. The SLURM queues are similar to that implemented using LSF including user restrictions and job limits.
Please attend the SLURM training seminars so that if you have not used SLURM before you are familiar with it and know what you are doing as you migrate your scripts to SLURM.
To facilitate users to migrate their scripts from LSF to SLURM for interactive and batch runs a series of training sessions will be held starting from this Thursday, April 14. Seats are limited. Although the RC website (http://www.northeastern.edu/rc) will be updated shortly with example SLURM submit scripts for job submissions, it is strongly urged that users that have not used SLURM before to sign up and attend at least one session.
Sign up details are here - http://discovery3.neu.edu/cgi-bin/signup/index.cgi
Detailed seminar calendar is on the RC website and here - http://nuweb12.neu.edu/rc/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/NU-RC__seminar_calender_May-Sep_2016.pdf
A SLURM users' manual is here for users to get a minimal introduction before the training seminars - http://nuweb12.neu.edu/rc/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/NKR_user_guide_slurm.pdf
Hope to see you there.
Best
Nilay
