Hello Discovery users,

This is a friendly reminder that the Discovery cluster will be undergoing regularly scheduled monthly maintenance between 5 AM - 5 PM EST tomorrow, 1/05/2022. The cluster will be unavailable for jobs during the maintenance window. Please subscribe to our ITS status page for updates.

Also note that if you’re attempting to submit a job today that might run into the start of the maintenance window, your job will fail or return an error. Please make sure to update your srun or sbatch script with the --time= option set to an amount of time where your job will complete before the start of maintenance.

What this is about:
Discovery cluster monthly maintenance

When:
Wednesday, 05 January 2022, 5am to 5pm EST.

What updates are planned during maintenance:
> Update slurm to 21.08.5 (bug fixes)
> Update CentOS packages (bug fixes; kernel will not be updated)

How will the maintenance day affect me:
> The cluster will be unavailable for jobs during this maintenance window.
> You will not be able to access Discovery resources including the web portal (ood.discovery.neu.edu), data storage (/home, /scratch, /work), and PI-owed partitions during this time.
> Please make sure to plan ahead, especially if you typically have long-running jobs on Discovery. If you’re attempting to submit a job that might run into the start of the maintenance window, your job will fail or return an error. Please make sure to update your srun or sbatch script with the --time= option set to an amount of time where your job will complete before the start of maintenance.
