TODAY @ MIT @5:15!
Audit the Streets is a multimodal research project that catalogs uneven and inequitable commemoration practices in the US landscape.
It includes a national-scale database, a data story about places commemorating Christopher Columbus, a zine about counter-Columbus contestations, an investigation of the prevalence of commemorating landed white Harvard men in Cambridge, and a research paper
that draws from Black and Indigenous feminisms to theorize audits.
Presented by
Catherine D’Ignazio, Assistant Professor of Urban Science and Planning and Director of the Data + Feminism Lab, and
Wonyoung So, Ph.D. student in DUSP and research assistant & technical lead of the Data + Feminism Lab.
