*NULab for Texts, Maps, and Networks* *Douglass Day 2021* *February 12th, 12–1pm* Dear all, Please join the Digital Scholarship Group <https://dsg.northeastern.edu/>, the Women Writers Project <https://wwp.northeastern.edu/>, and the NULab for Texts, Maps, and Networks <https://web.northeastern.edu/nulab/> in our remote celebration of Douglass Day, an event honoring the life and birthday of Frederick Douglass on February 12th from 12:00PM to 1:00PM EST. At this event, we will be transcribing the papers of Mary Church Terrell, an educator, women’s rights advocate, and civil rights activist, using the Library of Congress’s By the People <https://crowd.loc.gov/campaigns/mary-church-terrell-advocate-for-african-americans-and-women/> platform. After a brief welcome and introduction, we will split into smaller groups for the transcriptions. Our Douglass Day celebration is free and open to the public. Please note, when you register for this event you will receive a Zoom link in an attachment on the confirmation email, not in the email body itself.* This event connects with the national Douglass Day, an annual celebration organized, in part, by The Colored Conventions Project, with local events happening across the country on February 12 and 14.
