Hello Discovery users,

The Discovery cluster will be undergoing regularly scheduled monthly maintenance on Monday, February 3rd from 8a.m. to 5p.m. The cluster will be unavailable for jobs during this time.

Maintenance tasks will include the following:

• Performing a code update to the Nexus switches in Pod A
• Rebooting the login and service nodes
• Working with Lenovo to install InfiniBand (IB) cables on GPFS

These tasks are needed to help address some of the issues that users have reported with response times. We are also currently working to optimize our scheduler (Slurm), and we anticipate that this optimization work will result in shorter wait times for jobs on Discovery.

To clarify for new users, you are receiving this email because you have an account on Discovery as part of your research group or for your classwork. We require that all Discovery users also be subscribed to this listserv for the duration of your account, as we communicate important information through this listserv.

• If you are a researcher and you want your account to be deactivated and to be removed from this mail list, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this email. Please be aware that when your account is deactivated, it also removes any files you have on Discovery, so make sure to remove your files prior to requesting account deactivation.
• If you are using Discovery or Open onDemand (OOD) as part of your class work, your account will automatically be deactivated following the end of your class, and you will be unsubscribed from this mail list. Please make sure to transfer any files you have in your /home or /scratch directories at the end of your class to your local hard drive.
