Dear all,

The write-up from September’s call on parenting in DH is posted here: http://www.dhwogem.org/dh-parenting-2/. For US-based folks, it includes a lot of resources about how Title IX protects parenting students (up through postdocs), even though most universities don’t include this at all in their materials.

Tassie Gniady has volunteered to lead a conversation on October 21st at 12 Eastern, 11 Central, 9 Pacific about physical and mental disability in DH. Here’s the notes from our last conversation (http://www.dhwogem.org/disability/) but having had two parenthood-related calls now, I’m reminded that the calls really end up being different depending on who’s there. If you’re interested, please come if it’s at a non-awful time in your time zone.

Speaking of time zones, if anyone would like to organize a call at a time amendable to Europe / Asia / Australia, please let me know! I’m happy to get it posted on the website and advertise on Twitter.

For DH 2020, I’m planning on putting together a poster proposal for a “caring responsibilities in DH” (children, elderly parents, pets, self-care) survey that we’re hoping to run globally starting next spring. Would anyone else like to be on the poster proposal? (Cheese Bones may also end up coming along for the trip.) Are there any other DH-WoGeM submissions that someone else would like to organize for next year’s conference? We have until October 15th.

Cheers,
Quinn
