Sorry, one more thing…..

We are submitting an NSF Expedition proposal today and I just tested is research.gov would accept the 20 page project description which is allowed for this proposal according to the solicitation.

Research.gov would not accept the project description as it is over the allowed 15 pages. This is a big concern.

Best,

Pernille

Hi Joan,

Latest comments on Research.gov uploads and these are the issues we still find with LaTeK generated PDF’s.

Project Summary (generated from Fastlane)

Warning - For line spacing, there should be no more than six lines per inch on the document. Please refer to the Proposal Preparation Document Upload FAQs. NSF may return a proposal without review if it does not meet line spacing requirements.

In general

               Margins:

A LaTeK generated PDF with 1 inch margins is still generating an error (I then converted the PDF

to word and made sure the margins were all 1 inch and there was no pagination and saved it back to a PDF.  But still got the error below.

Your file contains a top document margin that is less than one inch

Font:

In the same document as used above, I changed the font to Times New Roman in Word and resaved as a PDF. The font error still came up.

Your file contains the following warning(s):

Kind regards,

Pernille

Good Morning….

A reminder that I’ll be attending FDP next week, and want to pass on your comments to NSF as to why you do not use Research.gov to submit proposals.  (This is of course assuming they come to the meeting….not sure about that, given the current government shutdown situation.  Nevertheless, I want to be prepared!)

Please send me your comments …..thanks!

Joan

Hi folks…

As I mentioned at the last Brown Bag session, I’ll be going to FDP in a few weeks 1/23 and will have a chance to provide feedback to NSF on the use of Research.gov.  As we noted, our user community is not using Research.gov to submit, as the functionality does not yet match Fastlane.

As I also mentioned, if you could provide a list to me of priority functionality items (e.g. “when Research.gov does *this*, then I will use Research.gov to submit”), then I can request that these items be prioritized in their development efforts.

So please discuss in this group what everyone thinks should be the priorities, e.g. the reasons why you don’t use Research.gov to submit, and I’ll collect the feedback.

Thanks!
