Dear Boston-area DH colleagues, I am co-leading a Wikipedia-edit-a-thon with colleagues from the Music Library Association at the annual meeting in February 2019 in St. Louis, Missouri. We applied for a Wikipedia Rapid Grant proposal and would be grateful to receive endorsements for the proposal from a wide community to aid Wikipedia's grant funding committee in making their decisions. From the proposal: *This Wikipedia edit-a-thon is focused on editing and creating Wikipedia and Wikidata entries for un(der)represented performers and composers who were born in St. Louis or have significant connections to the city. The goal of this event is to pair experienced Wikipedia editors from the national music library and local St. Louis communities with new or novice editors to improve St. Louis music-related content, notably highlighting members of marginalized communities. The event will be free of charge and open to the public, with a goal of bringing together a national scholarly association and local community expertise to contribute and improve Wikipedia in these areas.* As a means to garner financial support for the event, ETSC has submitted a Wikipedia Rapid Grant proposal. The members of ETSC would be most grateful to have endorsements for the proposal from MLA’s membership. These endorsements aid Wikipedia’s grant funding committee in making their decisions.
