Assistant Director of the Digital Innovation Lab, Specialist in Digital Pedagogy and Scholarship

Established in 2016 and housed in the newly renovated Collaboratory for Innovative Design (CID) in the MacPháidín Library, the Digital Innovation Lab creates teaching and learning opportunities through the development and implementation of digital projects. Grounded in the liberal arts and dedicated to critical digital pedagogy, the Digital Innovation Lab serves as a sandbox where faculty experiment with the use of transformative digital technologies in their teaching, research, and artistic creation. The lab offers unique learning opportunities for Stonehill students to develop critical digital skills through both course-based assignments and employment in the lab as student Digital Fellows. The Assistant Director will play a crucial role in articulating and advancing this multifaceted approach to digital teaching, learning, and scholarship at the College.

The person in this twelve-month position will bring their expertise in digital pedagogy and scholarship to a team of teacher-scholars, librarians, and technicians forging Stonehill College’s distinctive digital liberal education. This position will include administration, teaching, and collaboration with students and faculty on innovative course design and digital scholarship. The Assistant Director will work closely with faculty colleagues in the classroom, library, and lab, leveraging their technical and project management skills to advance student-centered learning opportunities at the College.

Working under the guidance of the faculty director of the Digital Innovation Lab and the Director of the Library, the Assistant Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the DIL, including development, planning, implementation, creation, and support of teaching and research projects, from podcasting and website building to digital humanities initiatives and Open Educational Resource (OER) publication. The Assistant Director will manage and mentor student workers and interns while together they build and create digital teaching and scholarly materials. As a resource for innovative digital work across the campus, this individual will play a vital role in the development of a digital repository of faculty and student scholarship. This position will be instrumental in the development of a digital liberal education skills curriculum and implementing a micro-certification/badging program that recognizes student achievement. The Assistant Director will also teach courses in their field of academic expertise and contribute to the College’s online course program. The individual appointed to this role will contribute to Stonehill’s mission of educating students to become creative and critical thinkers who think, act, and lead with courage toward the creation of a more just and compassionate world.
