Hi Boston DH people,

*Join the Digital Scholarship Group <https://dsg.neu.edu/> (Northeastern
University Libraries) and the NULab Center for Texts, Maps and Networks
<https://web.northeastern.edu/nulab/> (College of Social Sciences and
Humanities) for our annual kickoff event! It will be in Room 90 in Snell
Library on September 24 from 3 PM to 5 PM with a reception to follow. *

The Fall Welcome will feature a keynote speech by Dr. Monica Martinez
<https://vivo.brown.edu/display/mmartin4>, Stanley J. Bernstein '65 P '02
Assistant Professor of American Studies at Brown University. Dr. Martinez
is the primary investigator for *Mapping Violence
<https://mappingviolence.com/>*, a digital project that documents histories
of racial violence in Texas. The keynote will be followed by lighting talks
presenting research from the Northeastern community doing digital projects
in English, History, Computer Science, Network Science, Journalism, and
more.

Attendees will learn about projects and methods in digital scholarship such
as text analysis, GIS and mapping, encoding, data visualization and more.
Attendees will meet others interested in or practicing digital scholarship
from the Northeastern and Boston DH community.
